SHAPE WITH INTENTION
IMMERSE YOURSELF IN CLAY AT OUR LITTLE CERAMICS SANCTUARY & CONNECT WITH FELLOW CREATIVES

Welcome
This is more than just a shared pottery studio—it's a haven for cultivating creativity, quieting the mind, and building meaningful connections. Our studio is a welcoming sanctuary for those seeking a sense of community through the art of clay.
Pottery Classes & Offerings
At our little ceramics sanctuary we host monthly four-week beginner classes (wheel & hand building) to establish a strong technical foundation for aspiring ceramicists.
For those eager to deepen their pottery practice, we offer intermediate classes and an exclusive monthly membership, allowing members to join a vibrant community of creators as they craft exquisite interior pieces, tableware, and one-of-a-kind art.

Meet Ellen
Ellen is a ceramic artist based in Cape Town, South Africa and Founder of Pencil Ceramics Studio. She integrates the beautiful natural surrounding into her art and teaches beginners and experienced potters the art of ceramics. Her unique approach of combining mindfulness into the creative process lets her students not only shape ceramics vessels into their most beautiful form, but also their mindsets. Ellen incorporates ancient Japanese pottery techniques into her teaching, which she learned during her ceramics studies in Mashiko, Japan. She was a resident ceramicist in the Hamburg based Studio of Anna Morgado, before she moved to Cape Town to learn under the award-winning potter Anthony Shapiro.
Ellen left her decade-long career in the Tech industry working for Google and Spotify behind, to embrace her passion full-time: Ceramics. She is a Certified Integral Coach and incorporates methods to integrate mind, body and heart through clay.
Meet Kayla
Kay is a ceramic artist based in Cape Town, South Africa, with a Fine Art degree from the Michaelis School of Fine Art (UCT), where her passion for sculpture first took root. Ceramics soon became a natural extension of her practice, offering a hands-on way to explore form, texture, and creativity.
After spending two years in the behind-the-scenes world of galleries and exhibitions, Kay returned to her love of making and fully embraced ceramics.
Through self-teaching, she developed her own line of work, from functional tableware to expressive sculptural pieces, inspired by nature and the joy of creating by hand.
Now part of the Pencil Ceramics team, Kay shares her passion with students, guiding them to explore their creativity, experiment freely, and connect deeply with the tactile magic of clay.
